Hamish is a creative leader with over 25 years’ experience, including as National Executive Creative Director of Experience at CHEP Sydney, Creative Partner at GHO Sydney, Executive Creative Director at R/GA Sydney and Group Creative Director at M&C Saatchi Sydney.
With experience in every major aspect of marketing creativity, across brand, digital, direct and retail, he has led and worked on many of Australia’s leading brands, including Commonwealth Bank, Google, Telstra, Optus, NRMA, Macquarie and Samsung, among many others.
He has contributed to agencies and projects that have won 250 awards globally, including Gold and Titanium Lions at Cannes, Yellow Pencils at D&AD, Gold at One Show and One Show Interactive, Grand Clios, multiple Golds and Grand Prix at Spikes Asia, Grand Prix for Australian Agency of the Year, Innovation Agency of the Year, #2 on BRW’s Most Innovative Companies in Australia, Asia-Pacific Agency of the Year, Digital Campaign of the Year, Direct Campaign of the Year, Media Campaign of the Year, Best Media & Marketing Innovation, the WARC Prize for Innovation, and FWA Global Website of the Year (the first and only in Australia’s history). In his time at GHO, the agency has won a range of local awards, most notably Best Use of Sponsorship, Best Ad Campaign Championing Equality, Employer of the Year and Best Use of UX. They were also finalists for B&T’s Independent Agency of the Year.
Hamish has been a judge many times on Mobile, Direct, Digital and Innovation juries, including Chair of Judges for Digital at AWARD, Chair of Judges for Digital and Direct at AC&E, and judge for Digital, Digital Craft and Mobile at Spikes Asia and twice at AdFest.
Through his interest in innovation for impact, he has been a mentor for two accelerators: Remarkable, for early-stage startups creating technology to positively impact life for people with disability; and EnergyLab, ANZ’s largest climate tech accelerator. He has also completed the Remarkable Design-a-thon on using design to improve the experience of people with disability; and has a Grad Cert in Environmental Education from Macquarie Uni.
He has spoken at Spikes Asia, Ad:tech and Google, and was twice invited to give the digital lecture at AWARD School, which was voted by students as the most interesting and informative of the entire course.
A constant learner, he has also taken advantage of a wide range of educational opportunities, including Hyper Island’s Digital Transformation Program, Section 4’s Brand and Strategy sprints, and ADMA’s Certificate in Direct Marketing. He has also completed Marketing Week's MiniMBA in Brand Management and in Marketing, finishing in the top 10% of students.
